SIP on Mitel

All of Mitel’s desktop display phones are dual-mode, that is, they can operate either in SIP mode or in proprietary MiNET mode. Supported phones include the 5212, 5224, Navigator and the 5330 and 5340 IP phones. The 5302 basic IP phone is SIP only. All phones in of the proposed Mitel IP desktop portfolio will conform to the current SIP standards and specifications. Each Mitel IP dual-mode desktop set can be changed to a SIP instrument at anytime at no additional cost to the consumer. The SIP firmware boot load is present on each set and requires only activation. Firmware upgrades are remotely downloadable.

SIP Trunking Support

The Mitel 3300 ICP supports SIP trunking. The Mitel 3300 ICP acts as a SIP back-to-back user agent and connects to the carrier SIP proxy and registrar.
SIP trunking capability is integrated into the Mitel 3300 ICP; no additional hardware, servers or media proxies are required. SIP trunking is licensed based on each SIP session.
The Mitel 3300 ICP provides complete interoperation between Mitel IP sets, analog sets, digital trunks, SIP endpoints and to SIP trunks.

SIP Trunking Interoperability

Mitel 3300 ICP SIP trunking is compliant to IETF standards and supports a broad range of interoperability. Mitel and partners have conducted extensive interoperability testing with SIP soft switches, carrier SIP services, SIP PBXs, SIP gateways and SIP firewalls.

SIP Endpoints Support
The Mitel 3300 ICP supports SIP endpoints. The 3300 ICP gateway provides a standards-compliant SIP Registrar and SIP back-to-back User Agent functionality, embedded in the common control. No additional hardware is required for SIP endpoint support; however SIP user licenses are required.
